Improvement of Steerability and Driving Safety of an Electric Three-Wheeled Vehicle by a Design Modification of its Steering Mechanism

Abstract Three-wheeled vehicles are transport means which generally combine properties of two-wheeled (principal motorcycles) and four-wheeled (standards cars). have been designed manufactured as units made up one front wheel two rear wheels, powered by an electric drive-train, referred to in some countries under a non-English term E-3kolka. These also comprise special steering mechanism improves their overturning stability when driving around curves. However, several tests revealed certain deficiencies the mechanism, where main issue included unreliable self-restraining effect straightening after curve. This may even lead unacceptable vehicle. Therefore, authors this paper suggest particular technical solutions eliminate or completely avoid described negative effects during driving. Proposed designs mutually compared final decision is presented.
